Post Test

Wow. It actually wasn't that bad. I studied furiously all night and during the day before. I felt good about a lot of the questions, but a few were definitely sketchy. I am very happy that it's almost the end of the year. Phew I'm glad it's all through.

El Noche de Estudiando

The night of Studying. I find that I understand a lot of the topics we have covered, and because of the labs we have done the rules have been memorized in my mind because I have used them over and over again. I'm anxious and nervous for the test and think I will do well. I have used crash course and bozeman science to help understand the concepts from a different perspective and it helps.

Good Luck!!

Activity Series lab

I quite enjoyed this lab. All of the reactions seemed to be a surprise on whether they would react or not and what the reaction would look like. One changed from a light blue color to a dark blue among bubbles and fizzing. Another one broke apart and looked like dirt as soon as the two substances touched each other. Others turned black, and some did very small things like just bubbling. Overall it was pretty cool. My partner and I only had 11 react, unlike others who had up to 14. Writing the follow up work definitely gave me a better understanding of the types of reactions we were working with and will definitely help me on the test.

OH Happy Days

Mrs. Frankenberg being the wonderful person she is, postponed the ginormous lecture until monday, which took away almost all of the stress and homework I would have had. I am so very thankful, but still I figured with the extra time that preparing for the lecture would be a good idea. I watched a video from bozeman science that was very helpful. Link to it Here. It doesn't seem to difficult, but we will see what other things we have in store from our teacher. I hope all of you have a good Thanksgiving and enjoyed some good food.

Acid-Base Reactions

Looking on my notes I find myself surprised that the driving force of of acid-base reactions is the production of water, also that acids and bases together form water. I was also very amazed to find that all reactions of strong acids and strong bases can be consolidated down to H+(aq) + OH-(aq)
-> H2O.  I think that redox reactions will be interesting to learn and probably a bit complicated. I guess we will see. Happy thanksgiving to all.

Solubility Rules Lab

I very much liked this lab. I ended up doing the whole lab by myself which initially sounded like a hefty task considering all of the reactions but(as you can see in the picture), I had a pretty organized set up going that led to me finishing early and efficiently. I enjoyed the bright and surprising colors that occurred from the reactions, and was a little scared of the puke looking colors that one or two produced. The calculations, though long, most definitely helped my memorize the solubility rules, and as Frank said, they have become second nature and I quite enjoy that fact. Have a well day fellow chem nerds.
